SHEARS: RESULT MORE IMPORTANT
Blues 'keeper Scott Shearer walked off with the man-of-the-match award on Saturday - but still couldn't hide his disappointment at losing to Norwich City after keeping the Canaries at bay for 78 minutes.
The Glaswegian produced a series of stunning saves to deny Paul Lambert's men throughout the match, in a performance he feels may have been the best of his career. However, his over-riding emotion was one of frustration at the final whistle:
"I'd probably say that was my best," he told Chairboys Player. "They had a lot of shots on goal and they were very good at set pieces so they kept me on my toes - I'm just gutted that I've let one in.
"My job is to keep the ball out, but we've conceded one goal and lost the game."
Wanderers had shipped nine goals in their previous two matches against Yeovil and Brighton, causing manager Gary Waddock to demand a positive reaction from his troops - something that Shearer felt they delivered:
"We've given him an unbelievable response but it's the same hard luck story. In the last two games we've been well under par and we know that, so today we came out and had to prove to people that we can still do it, and I think we did that.
"I don't think we deserved to come away with nothing but that's what happens at the bottom. We had to brush the last two games to one side because before that we were on a decent run."
The matches don't come any easier for the Blues, with a trip to FA Cup giantkillers Leeds United on the horizon next weekend, but the Wanderers 'keeper feels he and his team-mates can take positives from the Norwich match into the clash at Elland Road:
"We were massive underdogs today and it will be the same on Saturday, but we'll go there and give 110% and hopefully come away with something.
"We can take the performance from today into next week and hopefully build on it," he added.
